something very funny just happened in my house. a group of people(2 females in their twenties and 2 guys in their thirties) came into my house and wanted to change the locks for our living room's window frames. at first, my mum thought that the female was a window inspector or something and allowed her(one person) into our house. the person had a tag on her, somewhat like those of a HDB contractor. the next minute, a few more people came rushing into my house. they showed my mum and i that the windows are unsafe. which is so true as the person managed to unlock the locked windows in the matter of seconds! then, one of the guy took out a type of lock and recommended my mum to change to that lock which was much safer. one lock cost $45! can you believe it?! they claim that they are doing it for the whole block, so the price is already at a discount. i saw some of my neighbours allowing them to change the locks for their windows. they were very persistent and insisted that my mum change the lock. luckily my dad(he works in the construction industry) came back and took over the situation. he asked the person to give him a name-card and that we would contact them if we are really interested in changing the locks. i guess he must have noticed that those people arent really HDB certified contractors. they were fakes. the person kept stressing on the fact that the locks were very cheap and we should take up the offer. my dad was firm and finally manged to got rid of those people. obviously those people were non-certified contractors. they were just going around the blocks to find business. i wondered how many people actually fell into their trap and when ahead with changing the locks. i bet there were a lot. they came in a big group and were very convincing. still, they pointed out something very important(the windows are unsafe), but i think it would be more appropriate to hire a certified contractor to do the job. that way, it will be much "safer". if such incident ever happen to you, dont believe in them no matter what. i think i better ask my mum to get the locks changed soon. haha.
